Since serial numbers may identify different years, the owner's manual can often be used to help pinpoint the date of manufacture. For example, a serial number of "AD" could indicate the appliance was manufactured in January of 2002 or January of 2014. The letter that corresponds with the year (2nd letter) rotates approximately every 12 years, so some serial numbers may point to different years. For example, if the serial number begins with the letters "GA," the appliance was manufactured in April of 2001 or April of 2013.
